Sited
along
a crest where the site begins to slope down to a lake, the house
straddles the
threshold
between the lakefront view and the more secluded woodlands. The
communal living spaces are
more expansive and open up to the lake while the
more intimate spaces of the house (study,
inglenook, master bedroom) are
located on the woodland side. A free-standing garage and
retaining
wall help to
clearly define the two different aspects of the site.
